Mission Summary
We were fortunate enough to show God’s love to many of the people in Ebu, Nigeria, thanks to our strong team of about 20 volunteers! Our team of physicians, nurses, ministry staff, and support staff were able share the love of Christ with many in need. Praise God! We served in the village of Ebu in the west of Nigeria, and were able to successfully provide much needed medical services, provide spiritual support and hope to the villagers there, and present certificates of graduation to the students of Connie Miller School of Fashion. Our team was also able to minister to the children of Ebu on Easter Sunday with an easter egg hunt event, fun games, and presentation of gifts. We were also able to celebrate the completion of the second phase of the community center building, which has been prayed for and planned for many years.
Medical Mission
We purchased our medication from Blessings International USA. Many villagers do not have access to the medical care they need. We saw patients with malaria, typhoid fever, high blood pressure, back pain, arthritis, dehydration, open wounds, diabetes, sepsis, fungal infections, scabies, worms, pneumonia, insomnia, seizures, malnutrition, and many other ailments. After being attended to by doctors, before receiving their medication, patients were ministered to and prayed for by volunteer pastors.
Connie Miller School of Fashion
Five graduates of the Connie Miller School of Fashion were presented with their graduation certificate on this trip. Each student was also presented with a sewing machine donated by a philanthropist. We will need sponsorship to continue be able go through the class. The cost for training for each student was $300 per term and each student completed two terms to graduate from the training school.
Children/Youth Ministry
Children and youths in Ebu were taught about the love of Jesus Christ and we demonstrated that love by ministering to their needs: we provided food, drinks, toys, and gifts. We are happy to report that the playground has been built for the children and youths and they had a lot of fun playing and it was well utilized. The facility caregiver will continue to make it possible for the children to come to the playground everyday. On Easter Sunday they had an egg hunt for the first time in their lives. About 300 children were present for the egg hunt event. Some of the eggs contained more than candy, they had money, between 500 and 1000 Naira notes, which made their parents happy.
Community Center 2nd Phase Progress
The second floor of the youth center building was completed on the day of our arrival. We were able to sleep in the building that night and for the rest of our stay in Ebu. This was a big achievement and saved us money from having to pay for a hotel. This floor will continually house the workers and foursquare pastor at the youth center. We had problems with the bore holes that were built in the previous years and this time around we erected water tanks but our future hope is to build a well as the completion to our second phase. Our third phase includes the building of the multi-purpose hall, and beautifying the grounds of the youth center.
